It’s our birthday! 6 years, 6 lessons learned…

This week we turned 6. We’re closing this year as our most successful yet and I feel incredibly grateful to be where we are right now.

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone we’ve worked with, and all who have supported us over the last 6 years.

There are many moments that I will never forget, from hiring employees, to the first big contract win, or the times we see our work in real life. Even the first time we had a client complaint sticks in my mind. So many moments define a successful business and I have learned that how you respond to failure is just as important as how you respond to success.

For anyone thinking of starting their own business, you will work hard, you will make a lot of mistakes, and you will feel higher rewards than at any other point in your career when the success comes. In my experience, it is completely worth it.

Heading into year 7, we’re working with some amazing clients, pushing ourselves to learn new things, and taking some time out to work on ourselves, as we prepare for growth.

I am excited about where the next seven years will take us.

Here are 6 tips that we’d pass on to other business owners:

  1. Failure is interesting – and it is part of making progress. You learn from failure.
  2. We do not know everything. We need to listen to learn, to ask a lot of questions, to be flexible and patient.
  3. You need customers. They need value. You need to constantly learn new things as the market is always changing. Research and development need to be built within everything you do.
  4. Quality is what will set you apart from your competition. You need to make sure you spend time ensuring that the service you provide is of the best quality possible.
  5. Don’t just pay attention to what you have to offer. It is just as important to understand what your customer wants and to ensure that you can deliver that.
  6. Learn how to sell, fast. You need to constantly refine your sales techniques. Always get feedback not just when you don’t win, but when you do, why did they choose you.

To those who know us, please take a moment to raise a glass to our birthday. And thank you all for the last 6 years.
